Great article, great choices. I wouldn’t change a thing but I have to add that for whatever unknown reason, “Only Once” has the highest play count of any song in my library.
Thank you for this! Add me to the legions of listeners that loved Lone Justice but lost sight of McKee's more recent work. Just an absolutely gorgeous voice. My favorite might be "Sweet Sweet Baby." I'm also really excited for the new record coming out here soon.
Excellent article, thanks - I'm familiar with the Lone Justice stuff and love "Sin" and "Life Is Sweet," but sort of lost track of her output in the 2000s. I've got some catching up to do, appreciate the reminder!
I really like artists who jump around stylistically, and she's great that way - so much more than just 'Americana'. Genre-bending tends to make commercial success elusive, but generally results in a more rich & varied catalog.
David is speaking my language big time here. Maria McKee is easily one of my favorite artists of the last forty years. If she'd just stopped when Lone Justice disbanded, I'd still feel that way, but her solo material (especially 'You Gotta Sin to Get Saved') only deepened my admiration for her...on up to the present day. Can't wait for the "new" stuff!

Happy BD to Maria.
Good move on Quentin's part. Anyway, can't wait to listen to all of these!

Glad to hear it, Michael. Great minds and ears think and hear alike!
